Operation Red November: The Final Push

Tuesday, November 1, 2011 - 11:58am / leanna.cannafax

Only one week remains until Kentucky's important statewide elections.  For the final push, Victory Centers and local Republican Party Headquarters need your help!  Volunteer to make calls, go door-to-door, pick up a yard sign or bumper sticker --- everyone can do their part to ensure we send a message to President Obama this November.

Can I Have Your Number?

Sunday, October 23, 2011 - 2:11pm / swilliams@crnc.org

This past Thursday the Lieutenant Governor spoke at a fundraiser event about the importance of staying connected with the voters of New Jersey.  She gave out her cell phone number to people at the event to show that she values people's concerns and wants to be available to the people of New Jersey.  She told those in attendance, "You pay for my cell phone, you should have my number!"

Dems Out of Touch in Mississippi

Saturday, October 22, 2011 - 7:23am / madison.shook

This past week, DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz graced Mississippi with her frizzy golden locks and loud rhetoric to campaign for Mississippi Democrats & Billy Dupree. She promised Democrats “won’t just win Mississippi next month, [they] will build the road to the White House right through Mississippi back to Washington D.C. and send Obama a second term”.

Today, 10 College Republicans from Maryland drove up to New Jersey's 2nd Legislative District to make phone calls for Vince Polistina, John Amodeo & Chris Brown.  They made over 7200 phone calls in one day! We are truely grateful for their efforts and time spend to come up to New Jersey to help out with our Operation Red November.

Important Ballot Measures on November 8th

Wednesday, October 5, 2011 - 11:50am / madison.shook

Mississippians have many decisions to make on November 8th. As previously noted, they will be voting for their elected officials, as well as on citizen initiatives, such as the Personhood Amendment (Initiative 26), discussed in my previous blog post. They have two additional initiatives to mark on the ballot, a voter identification initiative and an eminent domain initiative, as well.

Kentucky's Uphill Battle

Monday, October 3, 2011 - 10:06am / leanna.cannafax

We’ve all heard the phrase close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, but the idiomatic expression resonates more soundly with Congressman Geoff Davis (R-KY) than most.  No matter how few votes short you are from winning your first bid for a congressional seat, in the American democratic system, close doesn’t cut it.

Has the Dixiecrat died?

Saturday, October 1, 2011 - 12:34am / ben.walters

If you came to the deep south unfamiliar with the culture that would change quickly. You would most likely be greeted warmly and quickly grow an appreciation for football games and tailgating on Saturdays, church on Sunday, country music, endless buffets with all the southern "fixins" you could imagine. I also'd reckon you'd probably pick up a nice little southern draw. Let's face it, once you become adapted to the southern lifestyle, you gain an appreciation for the simpler things in life and realize there's nothing else like it.

Mississippians to Vote on "Personhood Amendment" on November 8th

Sunday, September 25, 2011 - 7:10pm / madison.shook

On November 8th, Mississippians will be voting for their elected officials, as well as on a citizens initiative to amend the state constitution - The “Life Begins at the Moment of Fertilization Amendment”, Initiative 26. This would add to the Mississippi Constitution that life begins at “the moment of fertilization”. Supporters of the initiative say the measure is “intended to protect all life, regardless of age, health, function, physical or mental dependency, or method of reproduction”.

Gov. Christie & Gov. Daniels Visit Rider University

Friday, September 23, 2011 - 10:58am / swilliams@crnc.org

Yesterday, Governors Chris Christie & Mitch Daniels spoke at Rider University.  Although they were there for a very short time, it was a great opportunity for College Republicans in the area to get together.  CRs from Rider, TCNJ, and Rutgers (New Brunswick) attended the event with the Governors and afterwards enjoyed a luncheon for current and prospective College Republicans.

University of Mary Washington CR's to host Karl Rove

Wednesday, September 21, 2011 - 3:22pm / ross.hemminger

University of Mary Washington College Republican's have had a busy semester so far. A full roster of meetings have been very well attended, and they've been working hard to elect Bryce Reeves to the Virginia State Senate. Mr. Reeves, running against a 28-year incumbent, has a great campaign set up and has been running for nearly two years now. He has a ton of energy running through his campaign, much of it supplied by UMW CR's, who do weekly phone banking and door to door.

Barack Obama is not part of my Wolfpack

Sunday, September 18, 2011 - 6:07pm / madison.shook

Many know the line I am talking about... Alan’s infamous speech in the movie, The Hangover. He was a one-man Wolfpack, but when he met the guys, he immediately knew his Wolfpack had grown by two. This past week, President Barack Obama made a campaign stop at my alma mater (and Zach Galifianakis’): North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC, Home of the Wolfpack. But, sadly, my Wolfpack did not grow by one, nor did it grow for many in our generation. Barack Obama is not part of my Wolfpack.

An Exciting Opening Week for the Ole Miss College Republicans

Sunday, September 11, 2011 - 12:07pm / madison.shook

This week was an exciting week for the Ole Miss College Republicans! Not only have they recruited almost 600 new College Republicans for the year thus far, they held their first meeting of the semester, opening the semester for many volunteer opportunities, events with candidates on campus, and even a little bit of fun intertwined with the work!

Keeping the tropical storms away!

Tuesday, September 6, 2011 - 7:29pm / ben.walters

The weather lately has really made things difficult on campaigns in the region but most students at the University of Southern Miss have just kept on going. The first football game of the season was still widely attended although must of the fans were drenched and there seems to be alot of enthusiasm as the second week of school was underway.

Christie On Top

Monday, September 5, 2011 - 6:59pm / swilliams@crnc.org

In Mississippi, they do things a little differently, but in a good way. They speak a little slower, their football tailgates are a little bigger, their sweet tea is a little sweeter, and their politics are just a little different. Mississippians still do typical campaigning, but they shorten the process, leaving it friendlier to candidates and voters alike.

I've often heard people of an older generation tell me that they fear for the future. "Your generation," they tell me, "just doesn't care, they're selfish." I'm sure you've all heard the same thing from your grandparents or your aunts and uncles.

Outstanding Conservative Leadership in VA

Monday, August 22, 2011 - 2:04pm / grace.craig

With Operation Red November officially underway, I find myself increasingly impressed with the Conservative Movement within the Commonwealth of Virginia. In particular, over the course of this week, one leader has stood out as someone who the rest of the country should be looking to as an example of strong Conservative leadership. The man I’m referring to is Governor Bob McDonnell of Virginia.

Week One!

Sunday, August 21, 2011 - 7:34pm / ben.walters

One week into the Fall semester I have managed to meet with several candidates who are looking to win democrat-held seats in Southern Mississippi. One such candidate, Ron Swindall has released an ad that I believe to be one of the best I have seen from any of the candidates here locally or statewide. http://www.voteswindall.com/

As Obama went tromping through the mid-west on his reelection campaign tour, his poll numbers have continued going down, down, down, still maintaining that same tune of blaming everyone but himself and his administration. And this time around, it is no different: this past week, Obama has blamed Congress for his low approval rating.

Hiring Field Representatives for Operation Red November

Thursday, January 13, 2011 - 11:47am / jeremy.hagen

A College Republican National Committee Field Representative recruits, trains, mobilizes and engages college students in support of Republican candidates, policies and principles.

Specific tasks include recruiting on college campuses, signing up volunteers, and organizing College Republican phone banks and neighborhood walk operations designed to identify Republican voters and get them to the polls on Election Day.

Essentially, Field Representatives promote and organize the participation of young conservatives in Republican campaigns.

Operation Red November in 2011

Monday, December 27, 2010 - 11:07pm / jeremy.hagen

Like 2010, Operation Red November in 2011 will be a grassroots movement by College Republicans nationwide to recruit and mobilize college students to vote and volunteer for Republican candidates in local and state elections. Currently, plans are being written to hire, train and deploy highly trained College Republican field Operatives to work alongside our 200,000 members on 1,500 campuses across country to make November 2011 as red as November 2010!

I pledge to make this a Red November
